We’re brewing up many different kinds of ciders, including semi-sweet, semi-dry, blackberry, cherry, plum, ginger, apple pie, apricot, gin botanical, and hopped.ĭo you like beer? Great! You should try our hopped cider it’s a delightful blend of cider and the same hops you taste in your favorite IPA without that pesky gluten messing with your insides. Meriwether cider isn’t sweet enough to give you flashbacks from freshmen year of college, but just sweet enough to transport you to hot summer days or to champagne powder on your favorite slope. We brew our cider from apples grown in the Northwest it is naturally gluten-free, making it essentially guilt-free, right? All our cider is made with real apples with other pure fruit juices added, no artificial flavors or essences. It's fizzy and refreshing like beer so you can put down a six-pack while fishing with your buddies, but with an aroma and mouth feel sophisticated enough to bring to your in-laws' swanky dinner party. We hope to bring the fun and innovative culture that we loved in the craft beer world to the local cider Industry.Ĭider has a very rich heritage in the United States, by the eighteenth century Americans in New England were brewing 300,000 gallons of cider a year but by the end of Prohibition, hard cider had almost vanished.Ĭider is the missing link between wine and beer. We are excited to be a part of the craft cider scene in Bellingham. Their extensive experience in production and operations management, technology and quality control-as well as an onsite laboratory-will ensure proper sanitation, product stability and quality in each batch. The Lost Giants partners are focused on promoting a positive, fun and collaborative environment for employees and customers, while creating a quality product for their community of highly educated and enthusiastic craft beverage enthusiasts. Ebert’s extensive background in fermentation science, brewing and production is now being leveraged to produce ciders that showcase the abundant agriculture of Washington State. The two discovered a shared passion for all things fermented while working in the local craft brewing industry. Lost Giants was founded as a labor of love-of friendship, entrepreneurship, and a desire to contribute to Bellingham’s close-knit craft community-by Abraham Ebert and Brad Wilske. Named by the owners-all avid outdoor enthusiasts-for the stately trees that once graced the forests surrounding Bellingham, the Lost Giants production facility and 21-and-over taproom features handcrafted modern and traditional ciders, with guest taps of local and regional craft Beers. Come early to your ferry, sip our ciders, and take home a taste of Orcas. Family friendly, and well-behaved pets are welcome. We have seasonal non alcoholic offerings, too. We serve light bites, and welcome people to bring their own food from the nearby Orcas Hotel or Village Store. If we purchase outside of what is grown here, we buy organic.

Our seasonal specialty wines are made from nettles or lemon juice. Other offerings include a couple single varietal ciders (Harrison and Brown Snout). We use local fruits and botanicals for inspiration, creating such gems as our Double-Gold (Seattle International Cider Competition) Nootka Rose Petals in Cider. Our distinctive ciders are pressed from heirloom apples in island orchards, here since the islands served as the fruit baskets of nearby cities, when the transportation was by boat. Located at the Orcas ferry landing, we have helped thousands wait for the ferry with our wonderful view of the dock and neighboring island Shaw. Boathouse Ciderworks has been making modern and traditional ciders and specialty wines on Orcas since 2016.
