Human japanese vs genki series#
The chapters of the first book of the series follows a format such as an introduction to the lesson, new words, a quick grammar tip, Q&A, reading comprehension, hiragana writing practice, and lesson activities. Japanese from Zero has a format of an interactive workbook. But before you get to the chapters, the first textbook will give you an introduction to the Japanese writing systems and how they work. The chapters of each Genki textbook include general topics such as Greetings, Shopping, the First date, etc. The workbooks of each textbook in the series are there for extra practice.

Expression notes/useful expression pages are also included throughout the textbook. Its textbooks give you a dialogue in the beginning of the chapter, followed by the translation, then vocabulary, followed by a grammar lesson, followed by a couple of pages of practice, and a culture note ending the chapter. The format of Genki is as if you were studying in school. I will compare these series based on their Format, Features, Level of Japanese you’ll reach after reading these series, Who their audiences are, Speed, and if I would recommend them to anyone. Both of these series, of course, teach in their own formats which fit different types of learners. Genki and JFZ (Japanese from Zero) are both book series that teach Japanese. I will only be giving out my opinions based on what I have seen in these series.
